Poem: You’ve finally attained your New Year’s Resolution… But at what cost?

Glasses clanked against one another

Cheering in style.

For the New Year was here

Keeping its ties.

She walked into the room

Feeling all eyes.

Smiles beelined,

Congratulating her strike.

Pride engulfed her chest

But ill-gotten gains deride.

Being weightless meant to starve

For her, happiness and pride weren’t the same stride.
